What to Expect From Homecoming 2022

Olivia Piazza

One of the most memorable weekends every year at Merrimack is Homecoming. It truly is an unforgettable weekend for all. As a freshman, it typically is when parents are back for the first time since move-in, and as a senior it is one of our first lasts.

Homecoming was one of the first campus wide events Merrimack hosted since the beginning of the pandemic. It all started with the festivities of Macktoberfest outside of Duane Stadium. This tradition will continue again this year on Friday night. There will be lawn games, food trucks, and even a beer garden for those that are 21+. Another highlight of the night is the fireworks show over Duane Stadium. It is an amazing touch and real kickoff to the homecoming weekend!

The next afternoon make sure to support the Merrimack football team as they play LIU at 1p.m. The gates to the college will open early in the morning and the tailgating will begin! The sweet smell of grilling, constant laughter, and pump up music will begin to fill the campus. Last homecoming a record crowd filled the stadium and was heard all across North Andover. The Warriors are hoping to defeat the Sharks and move their record to 3-2 on the season. We can’t forget an amazing halftime performance from multiple groups on campus. The marching band, dance, and cheer team will be performing their show stopping routines at half, as well as on the sidelines to really pump the crowd up. If you are lucky you might even catch a t-shirt!

With all the fun to be had, we all must also remember to be safe and smart this weekend. Be sure to look out for one another Warriors and let have another amazing Homecoming and weekend we will not forget!
