I think it’s safe to say that all college students are at that point in the semester where if they aren’t already burnt out, they are about to be. Unfortunately, with no spring break this semester, it is more common than not to be feeling this way. But, fear not – you are not alone!
If you are feeling overwhelmed, check out these 5 tips to (hopefully) help you feel more grounded and avoid burnout:
- Take the weekends to relax. Since we are not having a spring break this year and no long weekends, take the weekends to relax (like, actually). The power that a nice, relaxing weekend can have on you is indescribable. Order some takeout food, put on your favorite feel-good movie, and lay in bed. I promise you will feel more re-charged and ready to take on the week.
- Schedule free time. Between classes, extracurricular activities, work, and wanting to hang out with friends, life can get a little crazy. Give yourself some extra time in the morning to get ready, or block off a few hours at night to decompress and see friends. Making time for yourself and things that bring you joy is so important.
- Change your environment. If you typically do your homework in your dorm room, head over to a different spot on campus like the library or a table outdoors if it’s a nice day. We can all benefit from a change of scenery, and you might see that it sparks new motivation.
- Take a nap. Working yourself into the ground everyday isn’t beneficial. If you are feeling tired or begin to feel yourself getting burnt out, take a nap. It doesn’t need to be hours long, even a quick cat nap will suffice. Listen to your body, it tells you everything you need to know.
- Set intentions for the day. To avoid getting overwhelmed with to-do’s, make a list of everything you need to get done for the day (not want to get done). When those to-do’s are complete, you are done for the day. Getting ahead on assignments can be good at times, but don’t feel the need to do that everyday. Rest and recharge!
