The Merrimack Women’s Lacrosse team experienced a tough 7-10 loss against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Wednesday, February 24th at Duane Stadium.
At the end of the first quarter the Warriors led 1-0 after a goal from midfielder Cathrine Mahanna. During the second quarter Cathrine Mahanna got her second goal of the game and midfielders Meghan Dzialo, Mia Tessitore, and Sophie Scearbo all earned their first goal of the season to help the Warriors continue their 5-4 lead over the Wildcats. In the third quarter Cathrine earned one more goal to earn her a hat trick. The Wildcats continued to respond to the Warriors and ended the third quarter leading Merrimack 7-6. Midfielder Taylor Darrell got the final goal for the Warriors in the fourth quarter. UNH added two more goals to the scoreboard beating the warriors 10-7.
The Warriors record for the 2022 Season is 0-1 following the home opener against UNH. They are set to face off against the 2-1 Iona College Gaels on the road this Sunday, February 27 at Mazzella Field in New Rochelle, New York. The Men’s Lacrosse team is also on the road on Sunday, February 27th playing the 0-3 Holy Cross Crusaders in Worcester, Mass.
