Have you been seeing clear rubber bracelets connected by one black ball and one white ball around campus? Feel like you’re missing out because you have no idea what they mean?” Well, they’re called Lokai bracelets. They resemble the highs and lows in life. “Sometimes you’re on top of the world. Stay humble. Sometimes you’ve hit a low. Stay hopeful.”
Erin Hill, who just graduated with the Merrimack class of 2014, says “I wear my Lokai bracelet because I like the meaning of it, and it reminds me to stay humble in the real world!” The clear rubber balls represent the balance between our highs and lows in life. Senior Dan Kolomatis says, “My bracelet is something I take with me everyday as a constant reminder to stay humble during the success and good times that come my way, as well as finding the positive during the low points in my life.”
The black ball is filled with mud from the lowest point on Earth, The Dead Sea. The white ball is filled with water from the highest point on Earth, Mt. Everest. Junior Christine Zubkus says, “I like how the bracelet means balance in life. It reminds me to stay centered and that in life you will go through many ups and downs but you should always try and find your balance.” These bracelets remind us that you must find your balance between the highs and lows in this wonderful journey called life!
