Editor-in-Chief
The Beacon is headed in a new direction for the 2015-2016 school year. With new positions added to the editorial staff, there will be some major changes to how The Beacon is run.
Since many students are interested in reading the college’s newspaper online, The Beacon has created a Web Editor position held by Nina Deuterio. Nina will be reconstructing the website to make it more user-friendly, adding new features to it. The updated website will be launching this week.
A Social Media title was added onto the Features Editor position held by Skye Stewart. The Beacon will be strengthening their social media accounts with breaking news, current articles, and sports coverage. Along with this, new feature stories have been added to the paper.
A Marketing Director position also was added in order to take care of the finances of The Beacon. James Wegman holds this position, and has already started to go around to local businesses who are potential advertisers for the paper.
With the addition of two more editorial positions on staff, and many fresh faces, The Beacon should have a smooth run for the school year.
Along with the editorial staff, The Beacon is always looking for more students to join. Different positions that are continuously available include reporters, photographers, videographers, web designers, layout designers, social media managers, and new ideas.
