Freshman Alessandra Ricigliano has been taking the NE-10 golf world by storm. Not even three months into her collegiate athletic career and she is already racking up the awards. So far the awards Ricigliano has under her belt consist of NE10 player of the week, three NE10 rookie of the weeks, not to mention Corvias ECAC player of the month. Needless to say, the Merrimack’s women’s golf program is lucky to have her. Being only a freshman, Ricigliano seems to have four promising years ahead of her. Now that you know her game, lets get to know the athlete.

Q: What made Merrimack your school of choice?
A: I came here and I just really loved the campus and I met the golf team and they were really nice. It just felt like the right place to be.
Q: What has been your favorite part about Merrimack thus far?
A: Sense of community, I walk around and when I see people they just smile.
Q: What’s been your most memorable moment at Merrimack so far?
A: I’ve really liked making new friends, I have a really good group of friends and I enjoy the golf team. All the girls on the team are really great and I really love playing with them, even if its just a practice round.
Q: What are you majoring in?
A: Criminology.
Q: How does it feel being only a freshman and already achieving the awards you have received?
A: Its a really big honor, it feels really cool but weird at the same time because I’m not a big attention seeker.
Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Scarsdale, Ney York
Q: When did you start playing golf?
A: 6 years ago, when I was 11- 12 years old
Q: Whats your best recorded score after 18?
A: 67
Q: Have you ever got a hole in one?
A: No not yet.
Q: What’s your preferred ball you like to play with?
A: Titleist Pro V1
Q: Besides golf what’s your favorite thing to do on your free time?
A: Hanging out with my friends, and watching sports.
Q: What is your favorite course to play at?
A: Indian Pond in Kingston, Mass
Q: If you could play any golf course in the world where would it be?
A: TPC Sawgrass, Augusta, or Saint Andrews, I can’t chose
Q: If you could ever play a round with 3 professional golfers, men or women, who would they be?
A: Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Freddy Couples
Q: If you could play a round of 18 with any celebrities to fill out a foursome, who would they be?
A: David Tennant, Hugh Jackman, Derek Jeter
Q: What sport would you want to play at Merrimack if golf wasn’t an option?
A: Basketball
