Parking anywhere comes with an inherent amount of difficulty. Especially during a crowded time or occasion, finding a spot can be a challenge. On top of having to account for your fellow drivers and any pedestrians, the parking experience can often be struggling. Here at Merrimack, the difficult search for convenient parking spots is no different. But fear not, there are plenty of ways to go about finding a spot without encountering any problems. These are some important tips and tricks you can learn that will greatly help you during your campus travels.
The most popular parking lots for students attending Merrimack are usually lots H and G. With the former right next to Cascia Hall and the Sakowich Campus Center, and the latter right across from Deegan West. Both lots will often fill up very quickly. But there are some ways to avoid the large crowds. Depending on whether you have an early class or not, you might be able to score a spot if you arrive on Campus at an early enough time. By noon, it’s very likely that both lots will be completely filled, but getting to campus early increases your odds tremendously. Arriving around 8:00 to 9:00 gives you a much better chance of scoring a spot before the big rush of students attending afternoon classes. Your other option is to circle around the parking lot and patiently wait for an empty spot or for a car to leave and take their spot. This process can take a bit of time and can be quite competitive depending on how many cars are circling around the lots. But eventually, a spot should reveal itself.
If you are unable to find a spot in lots G or H, don’t panic! There are still plenty of other parking options available on campus. Lot M is a good choice for parking if the more popular lots are full. The lot is right past Ash and is across from Duane Stadium. Lot M is a dirt lot, and sometimes parking here can be a bit tricky depending on how many people are there. But it’s still a valid option for parking and tends to have more open spots compared to some of the other lots on campus. For Merrimack residents, lots J and K are designated exclusively for those living on campus. If you’re a commuter and can’t find parking in the previously mentioned lots, there’s still more parking available for you! Lots F and E both offer parking to commuters in addition to Merrimack staff members. Lot F is the parking lot right in front of the Athletics Complex and the Bookstore, while lot E is located beside Roger’s. While parking can be difficult at times, there’s plenty of available options here at Merrimack.
