Foxborough, MA – The New England Patriots have officially announced their six team captains for the 2026 season, selecting a group that combines veteran experience with emerging leadership. Kevin Byard III, Hunter Henry, Marcus Jones, Drake Maye, Morgan Moses and Robert Spillane will wear the captain’s designation as New England begins a new campaign.

The six players represent different areas of the Patriots’ roster, from the quarterback position to both sides of the line of scrimmage. Each captain will be expected to help establish the standard inside the locker room while leading by example on the field.

Kevin Byard III: The Veteran Voice in the Secondary – Byard enters the season as one of the most experienced players on the Patriots’ defense. His years of NFL experience provide New England with a veteran voice in the secondary and someone younger players can look toward for guidance.

As a safety, Byard also plays an important role in communicating and organizing the defense. His leadership will be especially valuable as the Patriots look to maintain a strong defensive identity throughout the season.

Hunter Henry: A Trusted Leader on Offense – Henry continues to serve as one of the Patriots’ most experienced offensive players. The veteran tight end has been an important part of New England’s offense and now takes on another leadership role as one of the team’s captains.

His experience within the organization gives Henry a unique perspective in the locker room. He will be counted on to help guide the offense while providing a steady presence for the younger players around him.

Marcus Jones: Versatility Meets Leadership – Jones has established himself as one of the Patriots’ most versatile players. His ability to contribute in multiple phases of the game has made him a valuable piece of New England’s roster.

Now, Jones takes on an even larger responsibility as a captain. His energy and playmaking ability can help set the tone for a Patriots team entering the season with high expectations.

Drake Maye: The Face of a New Patriots Era – Maye’s selection as a captain represents another significant step in his development as the Patriots’ quarterback. Entering his third NFL season, Maye has continued to grow into the role of leading New England’s offense.

The captaincy also demonstrates the trust the organization has placed in its young quarterback. As the face of the franchise, Maye will be expected to lead both through his play and his presence in the locker room.

Morgan Moses: Experience Up Front – Moses brings valuable veteran experience to the Patriots’ offensive line. His leadership in the trenches will be important for an offense that relies on strong protection and consistency up front.

Protecting Maye will remain one of the biggest responsibilities for the offensive line this season. Moses’ experience can help provide stability while also helping younger offensive lineman develop.

Robert Spillane: Setting the Tone on Defense – Spillane adds another veteran presence to the Patriots’ defensive leadership group. Known for his physical style of play and intensity, he gives New England a player capable of setting the tone on defense.

As a captain, Spillane will have an opportunity to lead one of the most important units on the team. His experience and approach to the game should make him a key voice in the Patriots’ locker room.

Six Captains, One Mission – Byard, Henry, Jones, Maye, Moses and Spillane each bring something different to New England’s leadership group. Together, they represent the experience, versatility and young talent that the Patriots hope will define the 2026 season.

With the captains now officially selected, the responsibility shifts to the six leaders to set the standard. The Patriots will look to their captaincy group to guide the team through the challenges of the 2026 campaign and help push New England toward its goals.
