The Nightmare Continues – Carolina Panthers Fire Frank Reich After Less Than One Year

Frank Reich Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are making headlines for almost all the wrong reasons on Monday morning as they have fired head coach Frank Reich almost exactly ten months after making him the first head coaching hire of the 2023 offseason, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

After a 1-10 record in Carolina, the Panthers have made the second head coach firing of the season as the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels in the middle of the night just a few weeks prior. Reich’s firing before the end of the season makes this the second time in as many years that the Panthers have fired a head coach before the season ends, and their search begins again.

This should come as no surprise with the abysmal season the Panthers have had so far. The offense has been unwatchable, and with the significant investment the team made in drafting quarterback Bryce Young out of Alabama they cannot afford. Not only drafting him first overall, but making the aggressive move to trade with the Chicago Bears to jump up to the first overall pick means this move simply has to work out.

Carolina will be moving forward with special teams coordinator Chris Tabor as the interim head coach, and Jim Caldwell will be working with the offense.
