In conjunction with President Hopey’s Agenda for Distinction, the former Volpe Athletic Center underwent a complete makeover before its Grand Re-Opening as Merrimack Athletic Complex. The new and improved look is a welcomed makeover, featuring a state of the art bookstore and lobby, a brand new athletic training center, a new and improved weight room for athletes, and a second hockey rink adjacent to Lawler Arena.

Possibly the most anticipated addition though is the new Dunkin’ Donuts that opened its doors last Wednesday. The new Merrimack Athletic Complex is aesthetically pleasing  and it has a lot more to offer than just going to games. If you haven’t had the chance to visit it yet, you should. You will be pleased with the recent changes.  Director of Athletics Jeremy Gibson spoke very highly of the new changes that were made this year.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for Merrimack Athletics. It has been a thrill to see how excited and appreciative the students are as they use the new space. We are all so grateful for the generous support that made the project possible.”

Junior Jennifer Post, who plays for the Softball team, had very good things to say about the recent changes.
“I love the new renovations, they are beautiful! The weight room is the peak of it all, too. It’s such a [testament] to how far our school has come and it is an indicator of the direction that we’re heading both athletically and as a college.”

The new changes seem to have won the approval from the Merrimack community universally. The students, faculty, and staff have all come together over the new renovations gaining pride over the continual growth of Merrimack College.
