The MLB Postseason Heats Up As Four Teams Remain

By: Wynne Drucker

The MLB Postseason is in full swing as four teams remain in the fight for the 2024 World Series Title. Tonight marks the fourth game of the NLCS between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as the third game of the ALCS between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians. All four teams have had great 2024 seasons which means these matchups are no joke. Let’s take a look at how the postseason is treating these teams and what the 2024 World Series might look like.

The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers are in an intense battle as Game Four of the NLCS is set to take place at Citi Field tonight. After the Dodgers gave the Mets a painful first game, beating them nine to zero, the Mets fought right back with a seven to three win in Game Two, confirming a Game Five on Friday Night. After the Mets excitingly tied the series up on Tuesday night, the Dodgers responded with another nine to zero win over the Mets last night. Last night was certainly a tough game to watch as a Mets fan myself after having such a miracle season this year. This series has been insane so far as both teams have beat each other by a high amount of runs. I am personally hoping the Mets will dish it back to the Dodgers tonight and once again split the series. However, it is overall an exciting series for both fanbases.

Moving onto the ALCS series, the Yankees have given the Guardians a challenging first two games. The Yankees won both games with three run leads over the Guardians, however the Cleveland offense was still able to score a few runs in each match-up. The Guardians lineup will try and get in front early tonight as the Yankees creep their way towards a series sweep. The Yankees will start Clark Schmidt with an ERA of 3.86 in the postseason. The Guardians hope to turn this series around tonight with starting pitcher, Matthew Boyd who is a left-handed pitcher with a regular season ERA of 2.72. Boyd has no current postseason ERA.

As for potential World Series match-ups, social media has blown up over the idea of a potential subway series between the New York Mets and Yankees. This pairing would certainly be nostalgic for New York baseball fans as the two teams faced off in the 2000 World Series. As all four teams continue their battle for the pennant, the rest of the 2024 postseason is sure to be wild and entertaining.
