The Do’s and Don’ts of Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is about enjoying your time with your family, so don’t spend the day counting calories or limiting yourself! However, whether you’re on a strict diet or just looking for a couple of healthy alternatives so that your jeans fit a little bit better at the end of the day, these tips will get you started:


Do make fresh homemade cranberry sauce with cranberries, honey, water, and either cinnamon or orange juice for a more distinct flavor.

Don’t buy canned cranberry sauce that contains BPAS to prevent the taste of the metal from sticking to your food. BPAS have been found to cause cancer and studies show that even ingesting small amounts proves to higher diabetes, asthma, cancer, and infertility.


Do make a delicious and healthy gravy with mushrooms, onion, parsley, whole wheat, vegetable stock, and a pinch of pepper.

Don’t buy into the easy-to-pour or canned gravy that are loaded in sodium, fats, added chemicals, and sugars that your body doesn’t want!


Do try a parsnip and carrot mash. Not only is it a delicious potato alternative, but you can help yourself to seconds….and thirds!

Don’t indulge on the mashed potatoes. As irresistible as they may be, they’re loaded with milk, cheese, cream, and carbohydrates..


Do make a low calorie, low carb, cauliflower stuffing using vegetable broth. It’s quick and cheap to make!

Don’t eat plates and plates of your grandma’s stuffing, no matter how good it tastes! All that bread means lots of carbohydrates!


Do enjoy a nice turkey (or to-furkey) with your family and remember what you have to be grateful for.

Don’t eat too much pie!
