The spooky season is here, and picking out a costume is always a fun part of the leadup to Halloween. Some people like to go the simple route, whereas others go all out for their frightful festivities. A recent poll down by Google Trends laid out the list of the most popular costumes for this year’s Halloween. These are some of the most notable characters that topped this year’s charts.
Movies and TV
Unsurprisingly, the hugely popular K-Pop Demon Hunters topped the polls. In fact, six out of the top ten entries all hail from the viral Netflix film. The entire top 5 is taken up by characters from the movie, with Rumi, Zoey, Mira, Jinu, and Baby Saja making up the list. And further down, Derpy the Tiger claimed 8th Place and was one of the most popular costume choices for pets. K-Pop Demon Hunters made such a huge impact on pop culture, and that impact continues to extend into the spooky season.
In addition to the K-Pop sweep, there were several other costumes from popular movies that were released in 2025 that were high up on the polls. The viral and confusingly comedic Chicken Jockey from A Minecraft Movie just missed out on the Top 5. Wednesday Adams and her family from the Netflix original series were also popular choices. Characters that originated from Broadway musicals also were big contenders like Hamilton and Glinda and Elphaba from Wicked, the latter pair were one of the most popular duo costume sets in the polls. And many superheroes were also popular choices like Superman, Supergirl, and the Fantastic Four.
Viral Trends
Bizarrely, the LaBubu Doll was extremely popular. The stylish yet ugly plush toys have become the newest collectible craze that many have become obsessed with. LaBubu ranked in 7th place, with it just missing out on the 6th spot. Speaking of, the even stranger trend of “6-7” was a popular choice as well. This one is very confusing because there’s not much you can do with a set of numbers. For those who want to know what 6-7 means, I’m still trying to figure it out myself. But the best “So dumb that it’s funny” costume trend definitely goes to the Lorax, who ranked in 10th place on the poll. The Lorax is a strange orange creature that comes from an animated film released in 2012 that was based on a book written by Dr. Seuss. It’s a fun trend since all the costume consists of is an orange bodysuit and face paint with yellow facial hair.
Get Ready For Halloween
While these popular costumes are definitely ones you could choose, the best part of Halloween is how creative you can get with your sinister swathe. You can either go all or or keep it simple, the choice is yours. As Halloween quickly approaches, the frightful festivities are right around the corner. So, what are you wearing?
