Lately the weather has students feeling as if they are living in a never-ending snow globe. As a result, Merrimack students only have one thing on their mind: when is Springapalooza.

“Springapalooza takes place every April. We have a spring concert, a week of activities, we do Cash Cab, there are movie nights, we have a softball tournament and we have other outside events taking place,” Allison Pukala, Director of Student Involvement, explained.

The 2015 Springapalooza will take place later in the month of April than it has occurred in prior years. Due to this years Easter recess, Relay for Life will take place during the second weekend in April. Traditionally this is the time Springapalooza would have taken place. Because of this, on April 17th and 18th there will be activities in honor of Springapalooza, and on April 19th the softball tournament will take place.

“We have a good budget and we have been looking into a variety of activates and different trips,” Pukala says.

Rose Dolan, Associate Director of Student Involvement, asked students to share their ideas with Student Involvement. “Things we want to do are not necessary things students want to do. If students have ideas please let us know, we want feedback. The best way to contact us is either via email or Twitter, do not be afraid to share with us your idea,” Dolan says.

Another change students need to be aware of is there are no wristbands this year for students 21+. “I think there was confusion last year. The wristbands were meant for special events not granting students 21+ access to drink outside,” Pukala says. Dolan also expressed that there are no more BYOB at events. For example the softball tournament this year will have a beer truck and a designated beer area for 21+. Students should be aware that policies concerning behavior and drinking are covered in the student handbook.

Finally, Merrimack Program Board revealed that Lee Brice, Chase Bryant and The Cadillac Three will be performing at this years Spring Concert. The concert is taking place on Thursday, April 30th instead of April 18th.

“Our top choice for a date was the weekend of April 18th, but that is the weekend of the 50th annual Academy of Country Music Awards Festival in Texas, so all three artists were booked for the weekend. Ultimately the 30th worked best for the artists, so that’s the date they chose and accepted the bid for,” Lauren Foster, Co-Concert Chair, explained.

Jenna Coviello, Co-Chair for Spring Concert, said the overall feedback was extremely positive. “I helped put up the final poster when we announced last Friday and many people that walked by commented on how excited they were. I had people texting me about how happy they were with the choice of Lee Brice and many students were sharing their excitement over Twitter. Having Lee Brice come to perform here at Merrimack is really big for us, and I think that even if you’re not a huge fan, it’s still something fun to do with your friends. Spring Concert is always worth it” Coviello says.

Student tickets will be on sale March 1st – 31st for $15 (1 per Mack Card) and $25 for guests (2 per Mack Card). For any more addition information you can contact Rose Dolan or Allison Pukala at dolanro@merrimack.edu or pukalaa@merrimack.edu
