Merrimack College students had the opportunity to speak with over 90 companies about possible internships and full time position opportunities at the 2019 Career Fair on March 6.
The career fair gave students of all majors a chance to explore different career possibilities. It also gave them the opportunity to network with representatives of these companies for possible internships or even full time employment.
Some companies that attended the Career Fair included Fox News, the FBI, The Alzheimer Association, W.B. Mason and even Lahey Health.
“The Career Fair was great!” I was able to go in and be exposed to companies I had never heard of and surprisingly found some I was interested in,” said Merrimack College junior Kenny Lamarche. Lamarche went to the fair specifically to find out more about internships, but found it was more oriented toward full-time jobs for graduating seniors.
Sometimes it’s difficult for students to know about every career opportunity that’s available after college, which is why the Career Fair can be so helpful to students. “You can branch out and look at different companies to find which one works for you,” said Merrimack junior Aleksa Thomas. “You can decide who you want to talk to based on your individual needs.”
I had reached out to O’Brien career center for a student headcount from the career fair. They were unable to get back for comments. All in all, the Career Fair was deemed a success in the eyes of current Merrimack students who attended. It allowed students to branch out and explore what life may be like beyond college.
Merrimack College strives to provide excellent opportunities for it’s students. The O’Brien Center for Career Development offers so many different services to help students. Services offered include a designated career advisor, help drafting your resume and cover letter and also practice for interviews and mock salary negotiations. The staff at Merrimack truly prepares its students for life after college with events like the Spring Career Fair.
