Richie’s Fantasy Booms, Busts & Sleepers: Week 6

Richie DeMarzo

Quarterback Booms

Patrick Mahomes: Patrick Mahomes is coming off of his most passing yards in a game this season and this week he is faced with an easier matchup. He faces off against a Titans secondary who is ranked #19 against quarterbacks this season. I think Mahomes is going to have a big day and expect him to boom this week.

Kyler Murray: Kyler Murray has been outstanding this year in fantasy due to his ability to run and throw like no other quarterback in the league. This week he is going up against a hurting Texans defense who averages 19.63 to quarterbacks each game which is very bad. Kyler Murray is going to run all over this defense and find the endzone multiple times.

Mathew Stafford: Stafford has loved his new home thus far averaging 22 points per game and this week he has a great matchup. He finds himself going up against the Detroit Lions who I see the Rams absolutely blowing out this week and this will lead to many points for Stafford. The Lions have been terrible all year and Stafford is going to have a big day.

Quarterback Busts

Lamar Jackson: The Ravens have been red hot lately, but they are faced with a surprisingly good Bengals defense. The Bengals are ranked #5 against quarterbacks this season and I think they are going to give Lamar Jackson some problems on the field. He won’t have those big passing and rushing games we are used to this week.

Ryan Tannehill: Tannehill has been having a very upsetting start to the season thus far and I don’t think he is going to turn it around right now. The Chiefs haven’t been great, but I don’t see Tannehill getting the job done against any defense. The Chiefs are going to run up the score on this Titans team and I think it is going to be another big day for Derrick Henry but not for Ryan Tannehill.

Joe Burrow: Burrow has been pretty great this season, but I see this game being a low scoring shootout between the Ravens and the Bengals. I think it is going to be tough on Burrow due to this very aggressive Ravens defense and I don’t see Burrow having much production. The Ravens defense is ranked #13 against quarterbacks this season.

Quarterback Sleeper

Jalen Hurts: Hurts has quietly been a top fantasy quarterback this season, but he is only being started in 59% of leagues. Hurts has averaged around 25 points per game which are elite numbers and he is looking like he is in for a Kyler Murray type of season. With his rushing and passing ability he is going to have another huge game this week so start him he is my big sleeper.

Running Back Booms

Alvin Kamara: Kamara is always projected to have big numbers every week, but this week I think could be a time where he shatters all expectations. He has a great matchup against the Seahawks defense who is ranked #30 against running backs this season. He is such a great dual threat that there is no way he doesn’t get production against this bad defense.

Darrell Henderson: Henderson has been on a roll lately and has been a big part of this Rams offense. Coming off of a 24.70 point week, he is now faced with an easier matchup in the Detroit Lions. I don’t see any signs of him slowing down especially because of the easy matchup and this guy will boom this week.

Derrick Henry: Derrick Henry is a man among boys and he is somebody who can do good against any defense in the league. He is coming off of a 3 touchdown performance and this week will be no different. Going up against a weak Kansas City Chiefs defense Henry is going to have a field day and run all over them.

Running Back Busts

Josh Jacobs: Jacobs is not a very good fantasy running back because he is very touchdown-dependent. This means he gets numbers from touchdowns and he doesn’t produce many yards or catches. This week he goes up against a strong Philadelphia defensive front and I think they will smother Jacobs this week and keep him out of the endzone.

Antonio Gibson: I don’t know what’s been going on with Gibson, but he has been very disappointing this year. This week he has a decent matchup against the Green Bay Packers, but his production just hasn’t been there. Gibson hasn’t had much success this season and I don’t see him turning it around this week.

Joe Mixon: Mixon has only produced good numbers so far against bottom 14 defenses and with a tough matchup versus the Ravens this week, I don’t see him having much success. This game is going to be very low scoring and I don’t see Mixon running all over the place like he did against bad teams like the Lions.

Running Back Sleeper

Damien Harris: Harris is probably one of the most underrated backs in the league and nobody wants to give him his recognition. He is going up against the Jets this week who are ranked last in the league against running backs this season and I think Harris will have himself a day. Harris should be able to shred this defense and that is why he is my sleeper this week.

Wide Receiver Booms

D.J. Moore: Moore has emerged as a top 10 receiver so far in this league and he is given a great matchup this week. He faces off against the #19th ranked defense in the New York Giants which he should tear apart. Moore has been a problem to guard in the pass game and I don’t see anyone on this Giants team who can keep up with him.

Tyreek Hill: Tyreek is a player who has been a little inconsistent this season, but with his matchup this week I feel like there is no way he doesn’t produce big numbers. He is going against the Tennessee Titans who are ranked last against wide receivers and I think Tyreek is going to work this secondary. He will have a field day and expect a huge game.

Cooper Kupp: Kupp has been sensational this season being ranked as the wide receiver #1 through 6 games. He is averaging 25.47 points per game and with a good matchup against the Detroit Lions, I don’t see them stopping him at all this week. Kupp will have a field day on this team.

Wide Receiver Busts

Ja’Marr Chase: Ja’Marr has been very touchdown-dependent this season which we know is not a good trait for fantasy football and I don’t see him getting in the endzone at all this week. Chase is going up against the thought Ravens defense this week, and I feel like they are going to give him lots of trouble this week and limit his production immensely.

D.K. Metcalf: Metcalf will begin to struggle due to the absence of his starting quarterback Russell Wilson where we saw last week when Metcalf didn’t have much production. Geno Smith is going to struggle this week against a strong New Orleans Saints defense and this will lead to Metcalf’s production taking a major hit.

Odell Beckham: Odell has been a receiver who hasn’t had great production in a long time and I don’t think he will turn it around this week. Odell is going up against a pretty good Broncos defense, and I think they will not make it easy on him. I don’t see him having lots of production this week and this is mostly due to the fact that he hasn’t seen lots of volume in so long.

Wide Receiver Sleeper

A.J. Brown: A.J. Brown finally showed signs of his elite ability in the second half of his last game against the Buffalo Bills and I think this is the game he finally breaks out. Lots of people are trying to give up on A.J. Brown, but I am here to say do not panic and this is why he is my sleeper this week. He faces off against the Kansas City Chiefs and this is a perfect opportunity to pop off.

Tight End Booms

Mike Gesicki: Gesicki is coming off of a big week after tallying 115 yards on 8 catches. This week he is going against the Atlanta Falcons who have been a weak defense all year. Gesicki will have the opportunity to pop off again this week and I think Tua will feed him the ball all game. The Dolphins love going to Gesicki and this will improve his production extremely.

Zach Ertz: Ertz is finally getting the chance to start fresh on his new team and they are going up against the Texans this week. They are ranked #31 against tight ends this season and I feel Kyler Murray is going to try to get him going early this week. Ertz is a great tight end and I think the Cardinals will want to run a lot of plays through him.

Hunter Henry: Henry found the endzone last week and this week he has a great matchup against the New York Jets. Mac Jones loves his new tight end and I feel this will continue to grow a connection where Henry gets lots of targets. Henry is going to have a great day and I can see him getting into the endzone multiple times. He is such a great tight end and I think he will find lots of volume this week.

Tight End Busts

Noah Fant: Fant is coming off a great week, but I feel that streak will be ended this week when facing off against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are a pretty good defense in this league and I feel they will be all over Teddy Bridgewater which will hurt Fant’s production. Also Fant is very inconsistent and I feel this will be one of those off weeks against a defense who is ranked #9 against tight ends this season.

Robert Tonyan: Tonyan still continues to be a disappointment and this week will be no different because of the lack of volume he gets. He only has one game over 4 targets this season and against the Washington Football Team this week I feel he is not going to turn it around. Rodgers doesn’t show him the volume he saw last year and this is just going to kill his production this year.

T.J. Hockenson: Hockenson hasn’t been producing at the same level as he started the season with and I think the Rams are going to keep his production down this week. The Rams are going to be all over Jared Goff and I think this will cause T.J. Hockenson to get little to no production. This Rams defense has been amazing all year and I think they will shut Hockenson down.

Tight End Sleeper

Tyler Higbee: My sleeper this week is going to a tight end who is only being started in 41.8% of leagues and he is such a beast and he is being slept on. I can’t believe people are passing up on this guy especially with his great matchup against the Detroit Lions and I think he will have a huge game this week. The Lions have been weak all season and I think Higbee will have a field day against this defense.
