Registration: May the Odds Be Ever In Your Favor

It’s everyone’s favorite time of year again. No, I am not talking about the quickly approaching holidays. I am talking about class registration. The stress that goes into class registration is like that of no other. It is no big deal though right? I mean if you don’t get into the classes you need, you just won’t graduate. Ok, maybe that is being a little overdramatic.

But in all seriousness, registering for classes is stressful. It is especially stressful when an advisor is telling a certain number of students that is greater than the number of spots in that class that they need to get in that specific class to stay on track. Let the Hunger Games begin.

What appears to be an obvious solution to this problem would be for Merrimack to open up more available spots for these students so they can take the necessary courses. Now unfortunately, this means increasing staff and so forth, which costs money. And I’m not saying students should feel self entitled to get to pick and choose what they want like a buffet. But one must remember that the students are paying money for an education and if they need a certain class to get that, then Merrimack needs to make sure that happens.
