Otto Pizza – Elevating the Pizza Experience

By Amelia Groothuis

Otto Pizza opened up its first location in 2009 in Portland, Maine. Otto has since opened up other locations and one being in downtown Andover. Otto does their best to use high-quality ingredients and is creative when it comes to its pizza toppings.

Otto has 10 locations in Massachusetts alone and continues to grow throughout New England.

The location in Andover is fairly new since it opened in 2020 and has been able to overcome the hardships of covid. Otto wants to create a different experience for everyone with its vast amount of toppings and combinations of pizzas.

Otto’s menu caters to everyone as there are plain cheese options, veggie options, meat options, vegan options, and gluten-free options. Otto shows that while they are creative they do think of their customers and what food restrictions and diets everyone has.

“I ordered the sriracha chicken avocado and it was so good! I rate Otto a 10/10 and I recommend it to everyone especially Merrimack students since they do 20% pizza off on Tuesday nights for students and trivia night on Wednesday with a full bar, so perfect for 21 and up students as well!”, Senior at Merrimack College, Maggie Silvestri, “It’s a fun atmosphere with outstanding service and food, the pizza is gourmet style pizzas so they aren’t average, which makes the restaurant unique!”

With Otto having a 20% off night for students as well as trivia this makes a great attraction for Merrimack College students who want to have a fun pizza night with their friends or even just get some yummy gourmet pizza.

Being that Otto is just in downtown Andover it’s a quick drive from Merrimack College, so it’s even convenient for students who don’t want to go far off campus.

Nick Bates, one of the managers at Otto, who started a few months ago is very enthusiastic about Otto and its environment, “The pizza is really good, as well as really good ingredients made with quality,  says Nick, “The work environment is a great place to work and the people here are great workers and having great customers so it makes working here easy!”

Nick also shares that his favorite pizza is the pineapple bacon hot honey!

One crazy ingredient is that they put mashed potatoes, tortellini, or even avocado on their pizzas which goes to show they really like to think out of the box and use creativity to a whole other level.

Being that Otto is such a unique place while boosting its creativity in pizza toppings creates a new environment as people try new toppings and pizzas. It’s definitely a new hot spot that people love to go to and is a great establishment.
