Merrimack forward Alex Jefferies did not travel with his team ahead of their first weekend stint against Arizona State. He will not play in either game as he is out for an indefinite period of time. Sources tell that this is a lower-body injury and he is expected to get checked with an MRI and will be re-evaluated on Monday.
This could be a minor injury that doesn’t go long term. I’m told the staff is hopeful that it’s nothing major to worry about.
Jefferies is the New York Islanders 4th round pick from the 2020 NHL Draft. Last season he led Merrimack in the stat sheet with 41 points (14 goals and 27 assists) in 38 games last year. He also made the All Hockey East 1st team and the AHCA All American Second team. A key piece to Scott Boreks offense that the Warriors will have to make do without.
