Merrimack Student Government Association Weekly Rundown – 4/11/23 – Executive Board Elections Begin!

This week’s meeting was a very eventful one for Merrimack’s Student Government Association as Executive Board elections are about to begin and the first round of speeches took place.

President’s Report: Nicholas Barber (Class of 2023)

Barber reminded the Senate about the date, time, and location of the SGA Banquet. Election policies were reviewed and Senators were reminded to fill out the Return to SGA form by April 14th, 2023. Speeches began, starting with the Publicist position.

Four Senators presented their speeches to the Senate for the Publicist position. Gaby Zola (Class of 2026), Gabby Heroux (Class of 2024), Nathan Persampieri (Class of 2024), and Tom Geraci (Class of 2025) all presented their speeches to the Senate.

Two Senators presented their speeches to the Senate for the Treasurer position. Wellness Committee Chair Kaylie Sheffield (Class of 2026), and Scotty Logush (Class of 2025) presented their speeches to the Senate.

Two Senators presented their speeches to the Senate for the Secretary position. Francesca Maiuri (Class of 2025), and Academic Affairs Committee Chair Nick Stawczyk (Class of 2026) presented their speeches to the Senate.

Two Senators presented their speeches to the Senate for the Vice President position. Ashley Bodenrader (Class of 2025), Residence Life Committee Chair Hannah Loan (Class of 2024), and Mariia Diahilieva (Class of 2026) presented their speeches to the Senate.

Three Senators presented their speeches to the Senate for the President position. SGA Parliamentarian Anthony Gentile (Class of 2024), Casey Stevenson (Class of 2024), and SGA Secretary Maxwell Beland (Class of 2024) presented their speeches to the Senate.

A round of speeches open to the whole school will occur next Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at 4:30 pm in The Hub. The ballot will be open next week after those speeches.

Vice President’s Report: Abby White (Class of 2023)

Senators should fill out the superlative form sent out today.

Secretary’s Report: Maxwell Beland (Class of 2024)

An update on the upcoming tabling opportunities. There are three remaining:

  1. Admitted Students Day on April 16th, 2023
  2. Spring Concert Tabling on April 13th, 2023
  3. Super Wednesday Election Day on April 19th, 2023

Treasurer’s Report: Kiley Martel (Class of 2023)

Parliamentarian’s Report: Anthony Gentile (Class of 2024)

Nothing new to report.

Publicist’s Report: Evan Jones (Class of 2023)

Nothing new to report.

Advisor’s Report: Peter Rojas

Nothing new to report.

Graduate Fellow Report: Connor Nickerson

Nothing new to report.

Academic Affairs Committee: Nicholas Stawczyk (Class of 2026)

Campus Infrastructure Committee: John Liddy (Class of 2023)

Career Affairs Committee: Loraine Rodriguez (Class of 2024)

The O’Brien Center’s new website will launch on April 18th, 2023. Senators are reminded to fill out Warrior Wins.

Dining Affairs Committee: Amanda Lee (Class of 2023)

Diversity Affairs Committee: Freddy Monroy (Class of 2023)

Nothing new to report.

Environmental Affairs Committee: Liv Orlowska (Class of 2023)

Nothing new to report.

Information Technology Committee: Brianna Leccese (Class of 2025)

Nothing new to report.

Residence Life Committee: Hannah Loan (Class of 2024)

Wellness Committee: Kaylie Sheffield (Class of 2026)

New Business

Zola (Class of 2026) asked the Senate to assist with sending off Eddie McGee from IT when he retires. Committee chairs are reminded to invite committee advisors to the SGA Banquet.

Announcements

Heroux (Class of 2023) reminded the Senate of upcoming Campus Ministry events. The meeting was adjourned until Tuesday, April 18th, 2023.
