Merrimack Men’s Ice Hockey seniors Hampus Gustafsson and Chris LeBlanc have both signed amateur tryout offers with NHL affiliates. Gustafsson will join the Hershey Bears for the remainder of the season, the AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals. LeBlanc will join the Binghamton Senators, the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators.

Gustafsson also signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals, which won’t take effect until next season. Gustafsson became the 6th Warrior to sign an NHL contract as an undrafted free agent since Mark Dennehy took over as head coach. Gustafsson finished his senior season as the leading goal scorer of the Warriors contributing 15 goals as well as 11 assists, for a total of 26 points.

LeBlanc, who was drafted by the Ottawa Senators back in 2013, finished this year with 5 goals and 10 assists, for a total of 15 points. LeBlanc became the third player under Dennehy to be drafted by an NHL squad.
