Coming back from Thanksgiving break to a pile of work is just about every student’s reality right now. With finals right around the corner, it’s crunch time – a time for studying, finishing up assignments, working on presentations, or in some cases, attempting to learn a whole semester of work in just a few weeks. Ready or not, the end of the semester has arrived. Here are a few tips to keep you in line. Happy studying!

Office hours: Professors have office hours for a reason, so use them. It shows you care about the class and are willing to put in the extra effort. Whether you neglected these hours all semester or are a frequent visitor, it’s not too late to go.

Caffeine: There are many places to get coffee on campus to keep your energy levels up. This is also the perfect way to use up those last Mack Bucks (if you’re lucky enough to still have them, of course). The Sanctuary Coffeehouse in North Campus is a great place for grabbing coffee and getting a few hours of studying in.

Exercise: Take advantage of the 24 hour gym on campus. Exercise is a great way to clear your mind and de-stress. You can even consider trying a yoga or Zumba class.

Extra sleep: You’re definitely going to regret that all-nighter the next day. Make sure to actually sleep and rest your mind. You will be able to focus better when you’re not feeling exhausted.

Delete all social media: Rid yourself of your phone. Not forever, but at least until your work is done. This will eliminate any distractions and help you stay focused.

Treat yo’ self: Don’t get too stressed out. Go for that second cookie in the dining hall or order those shoes you have been looking at. Finals week doesn’t have to be all that bad.

Snacks: The best way to study or spend hours in the library is with your favorite food. Finger foods like pretzels, M&Ms, or almonds are great to keep with you while studying.

To-do lists: Make a to-do list with everything you need to accomplish. Prioritize the list so you know what is more important. This is a great way to stay organized and gets things done.

Dark chocolate: Dark chocolate surprisingly has many great health benefits. It increases happiness, enhances learning and memory, and can help alleviate stress.

Relax: Finals aren’t the end of the world. Make sure to relax and take a break. It is important to take care of your well being in order to stay healthy.
