Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers narrowly fell to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. Back-to-back MVP Aaron Rodgers came into the game with a broken thumb on his throwing hand, which he had been dealing with for a number of weeks now, would then suffer a rib injury that caused him to miss the rest of the game. Enter Jordan Love, the quarterback Green Bay traded up to select in the 2020 NFL Draft, and he played incredibly well.

The accuracy and zip were there. Love looked comfortable in the game throwing and working with the first-team offense, which could be credited to Rodgers not practicing, or practicing in a limited capacity, on Wednesdays due to the previously mentioned thumb injury. He used his legs to extend plays effectively, was accurate not only from the pocket but on the move as well, and he brought Green Bay within a single score against the buzzsaw Eagles.

If the Packers had a defense that did not get run over, in both the figurative and literal sense in this game as they gave up well over 300 rushing yards to Philadelphia, they could have easily won this game. Jordan Love was put into a very unfavorable situation, down late with a very limited receiving group against one of the best secondaries in the NFL, and he did everything he could. He had 9 attempts, but they were accurate, catchable balls for all but one.

The Packers look to be well off in the future with either quarterback. Aaron Rodgers can still be that dude, the high-end play is absolutely still there and he absolutely still has it physically. Jordan Love looks incredibly promising, specifically with the improvement that he has shown from his first start to him coming off the bench late against Philadelphia.
