The pinnacle point of the Major League Baseball season has finally arrived as we have quite the matchup in store where the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers from the National League make it back to the fall classic as they will take on a team who has taken charge of the American League, the Toronto Blue Jays. This is back to back years that not only did the Dodgers take on a team from the AL East, but a team from the NL West will be playing against a team from the AL East.
The Dodgers were able to win the NL West once again with a 93-69 record, but there were other teams in the NL that had better records than them in 2025 compared to 2024 where the Dodgers took complete control of the NL. At one point in the regular season, the San Diego Padres looked to have had a chance to actually take charge of the NL West where the Dodgers were experiencing this slump at the end of September while for San Diego, they won 7 of their last 10. But through it all, the Dodgers won their division but would end up being the number 3 seed in the MLB postseason. The way they got to baseball’s grandest stage was by taking the down the Reds with ease, they had quite a series against Philly where they went up 2 games to none, but would suffer a game 3 defeat until a wild pitch in game 4 sent them to the NLCS to play Milwaukee as they would ultimately sweep them 4 games to none behind their valiant effort from the pitching against one of the best offenses in the league. Speaking of offense, designated hitter Shohei Ohtani led the charge both at the plate and on the mound defensively as he has been playing a multi position role which is something that has happened before with pitchers, but it hasn’t been happening for some time until Ohtani came into the picture.
For the Blue Jays, they make their first World Series appearance since 1993 as they have had quite the regular season where they went from worst to first in the AL East with a 20 win improvement that saw them go from 74-88 in 2024, to 94-68 in 2025. The way that they won the AL East had to do with a slump that the New York Yankees had due to their superstar Aaron Judge suffering a right elbow flexor strain as it took a big hit on the Yankees offense. With that happening, the Blue Jays were in a dog fight for the AL East as they had a surge to get them in that position and would end up taking the division crown for the first time since 2015. The playoff run they had was thanks to the explosiveness of the offense with Superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. posting a .442 Batting Average which is the highest among all players in the postseason, Ernie Clement also has been putting up quite the Battering Average of .429 which is behind Guerrero for highest Batting Average on the team, Nathan Lukes has been a glue guy in which he has surprisingly had a .333 batting average, Alejandro Kirk has been quite the player at the catcher position where his framing and blocking have been quite elite along with the fact that he has put quite some contact into his appearances at the plate where he has a batting average of .222 and George Springer has always been at his best in the playoffs with a .239 batting average. The Blue Jays were able to score big time on offense in the ALDS as they took care of business against the Yankees 3 games to 1 and then they would eventually be in a battle till the very end against the Seattle where George Springer hit a 3 run game winning home run into left-center field where the Blue Jays would win 4-3 as they would win the series in 7 games. Also in that game, Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman continued his excellence as he would get the save in game 7 and his ERA being 1.23 says a lot for the player he has been.
Game 1 of the Fall Classic will start on Friday October 21st at the Rogers Centre in Toronto at 8:00 PM Eastern time and the series will go on no later than November 1st if that will be necessary due to how the series will turn out to be. A Championship Series like this has some people believing that this is giving vibes of the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors NBA Finals in 2019 where you have a team out west defending their title in the Dodgers against a team across the Northern Border looking to break their championship drought in the Toronto Blue Jays. It will be quite the matchup between the power of the Blue Jays offense with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leading the charge along with their depth against the pitching and play of Shohei Ohtani both on offense and defense, not to forget guys on the offense like Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez. With the way that this series will unfold, the prediction that I have is the Blue Jays will be triumphant over the Dodgers in Six games where the Blue Jays and Dodgers will split the first two games, the Dodgers go on to win game 3 and the Blue Jays will take full control of the rest of the series where they will win in front of their fans at the Rogers Centre. The coverage for the game will be provided by Fox Sports and it will be quite the time for baseball fans to sit back and watch the action unfold in the final days of October.
The pinnacle point for the 2025 Major League Baseball Season has finally come and it will be quite the time that baseball fans will tune in for a series that has two teams whose seasons have been nothing but remarkable. One team will make history by winning the title and go on to drink champagne while the other will be empty handed when it is all said and done. Time can only tell which of the two teams will be crowned the World Series Champion in the 2025 MLB Season.
