It’s the most wonderful time of the year – registering for classes, of course (except for seniors like me who are sad it is their last time registering)!
Registering for classes can be both overwhelming and confusing, so let’s break it down into 7 simple steps:
Log into MyMack with your username and password
Click on “Student Info” on the top left
Once you click on student info, there will be a menu of options on the left. Click on “Registar”, you will then get a drop down menu. In the drop down menu, click on “registration”.
On the top of the page there is a drop down menu labeled “term.” Change the semester from “Fall Semester 2020” to “Spring Semester 2021”
Important to note: Do not change it to Spring Semester Subsession 1, 2, or 3.
Under the section “term”, there is a drop down menu labeled “Course Program.” Change it to “Undergraduate Program.”
Under the section “Course Program”, you have many options and ways to search for courses. You can search by Title, Course Code, and Department and even if you want on-campus, hybrid or remote classes. If you click on “more search options” you also have the choice of searching by Course Number Range, Method, Course Area, times the class meets, days the class meets, Faculty, Budling, and Section Status (if the course is open or full).
To add the course you can do it one of two ways. If you don’t want to actually click on the course, on the top left there is a section called “Add” and next to each course there is a plus sign. You can click on that, and it will add the course to your schedule. If you would like to read about the course or see if there are any prerequisites, you can click on the title of the course, and then add it through there.
How to Register Example:
Term: Spring Semester 2021
Course Program: Undergraduate Program
Department: Communication and Media
Days: Meets on Mondays and Wednesdays
You will then be shown the Communication and Media classes that are being offered on Mondays and Wednesdays
Tips and tricks:
- Make sure that you are ready on MyMack to register at your registration time. Registration times will be sent out by the Registrar’s Office and you can also find them on MyMack
- Have your ideal schedule either written or typed out, so you know exactly what you are looking for.
- Have a backup schedule in case all the classes you want get full.
- If there is a course you REALLY want, don’t be afraid to email the professor and see if they can either put you on a wait list or possibly add you to the course.
Now that you know how to register, you need to decide what courses you want to take. If you are feeling stuck, fear not – The Beacon has put together a list of all their favorite courses.
