TKE Raises Money for Pediatric Cancer with St. Jude Week

Each year, Tau Kappa Epsilon honors their philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with a dedicated week to raise money and spread awareness about pediatric cancer. Throughout the week, the brothers of TKE have planned a series of events to support this important cause.

The mission behind St. Jude is to cover all medical expenses for children receiving cancer treatment and to fully eradicate pediatric cancer. The national Tau Kappa Epsilon chapter chose St. Jude as their mission because the founder of St. Jude was also a TKE brother. Their motto is, “No child should ever have to die at such an early point in their lives.”

The brothers of TKE are all passionate about this cause, which is evident by how they raise over 3 times as much money as their fundraising requirement.

On September 27, the fraternity held their annual St. Jude Walk at Duane Stadium. Typically, they do this walk in Boston, but due to the circumstances of COVID-19, they relocated to an on campus location.

Today they will be hosting a virtual “No More Cancer Rally.” Participants will have the chance to cheer on all of the past cancer patients of St. Jude for defeating cancer.

From 11:59 pm on September 28 to 11:59pm tonight they are holding a livestream on Twitch TV. On the livestream, the brothers will be talking about St. Jude.

Bingo will be held on September 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Lot J near the Senior Apartments. Bingo will include fun features like music and trivia to keep people entertained and add some fun to our uncertain times.

The final event that will be lawn games and kickball in front of the townhouses and at Duane Stadium on October 1 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

Throughout the week, TKE brothers will be fundraising with Venmo cards on their personal badges, so keep your eyes peeled to donate to a great cause.
