Can you feel the cold air outside? That’s because it is officially time for Fall in New England. Some of us are big Fall lovers and can not imagine life without pumpkin-spiced lattes. The rest of us hide away behind our scarves as we wait for Summer to come back around. For those of you who dread the days ahead, I have some good news. I have the 2016 guide to Fall fun, and I’m here to share my secrets with you.
Farm fun: It’s Fall Festival time in North Andover at Smolak Farms. Every weekend is filled with ice cream, corn mazes, amusement rides, and apple picking. Pick some apples while enjoying some halloween treats. Crescent Farm located in Haverhill is known for their pumpkin picking, haunted hayrides, and farm animals.
Haunted happenings: Canobie Lake Screeemfest located in Salem, N.H. is a night full of haunts. Spend your night walking around while clowns pop out at you. Ride the rollercoaster and see if anything spooks you. Have fun at your own risk. Come see Haverhill’s scariest attraction, Winnekenni Castle annual haunted Halloween. This creepy castle is located in the deepest of forests. Beware of the hayride of horror as the ride speeds through the eerie forests of twist and turns in the pitch black.
Witches: The Wax Museum and Witch Village in Salem will take you back into the 1960’s with this open gallery museum of 50 wax figures. Get a taste of all the witch hysteria that surrounds you by being locked in the life size jail cell that was recreated. Afterwards, join the 15-minute tour that discusses the reality of ancient witchcraft.
Terrifying tours: Nightmare of New England in Litchfield, N.H. will leave you screaming. Try walking through the Brigham Manor in the halls of darkness of this condemned home, or walk in the 3D world of clowns, or try some zombie paintball. There is 80 acres of fear, five haunted attractions, and is ranked third haunted house in the country. Boston’s nightly Ghost and Gravestones tour will have you crying with fear about Boston’s past; good luck with the tour guides as they bring you through burying grounds.
Boo-ston: The Haunted Ghost Ship in Boston is a party cruise on Boston Harbor with a fully stocked cash bar, DJs, and a party with witches and ghosts! Bring your costume. Pub Crawls in Boston is a three-day pass at participating bars in the Faneuil Marketplace area. Go get your buzz on. The Fall Foliage Cruise located in Boston is a picnic cruise to Harbor Islands on the northern lights. The New England lighthouse tour is another great opportunity for thriving photographers to get pictures of the fall foliage.
