College Plans to Build Six New Buildings to House 428 Students

Patrick Lawlor , Editor in Chief

According to a report by the Andover Townsman, the college presented the first phase of a project to increase residency on campus to town boards and neighbors earlier this week.  The buildings, according to the Townsman will be in the middle of campus, in between the Townhouses and O’Brien Hall (formerly Santagati Hall). If the plans are approved, the construction could begin in September.

“We need more students,” said Jeff Doggett, chief of staff in the President’s Office told neighbors in the community meeting. “You’ll see this college close if we don’t have a master plan” Doggett said.

About 40 students will live in the Residence Inn in Andover this coming year, after the plans for St. Francis Inn fell through late this spring. According to the Townsman, Dogget asked neighbors to recall Bradford College in nearby Haverhill. Bradford College went out of business in 2000 and was vacant  until 2007 when Zion Bible College moved their campus to Bradford.
