How to Make Your Own Steak Dinner

Summer is just around the corner and nothing goes better with summer than a steak dinner with potatoes and vegetables. Here is an easy and delicious meal that you can make inside your house without firing up the grill. This recipe is also for a perfect date night for two.

First, start with the steak, I prefer a sirloin but this can work for pretty much any type of steak. I first pat the steaks dry so they can properly brown then for the seasoning it is really basic with salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. You can add more or less on yours depending on your preferences. Set the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

While you wait for the oven, get a frying pan and put some butter and oil and let that warm. When you hear the oil and butter sizzle lower the heat closer to medium and put your steak in the frying pan. You should cook the steak on both sides for about three minutes and at the last minute on the second slide scoop the butter and oil on top of the steak to get all those flavors. This should leave you with a medium-rare steak. The rest of the time I like to finish in the oven so my steak does not get too much of a char but it is still cooked through. I like steak medium for once my steak reaches 160 degrees fahrenheit. I know it’s perfect for me. I recommend checking the temp of steak every 2-three minutes so you do not overcook it.

Nothing goes better with steak than a nice big baked potato. When making baked potatoes I prefer to use russet potatoes but use what you like. I do my potatoes in the microwave. I think it’s faster and does not notice a difference from an oven. First, you want to scrub the potato and prick several times with the tines of a fork. Place on a plate. Cook on full power in the microwave for 5 minutes. Turn over, and continue to cook for 5 more minutes. Keep repeating till the potatoes are soft for you, remove them from the microwave. Wrap in aluminum foil till ready to eat so they stay warm. Then when eating cut in and add any topping you want. I like a dollop of sour cream with butter, salt, and pepper.

The last step to pair with this steak dinner is a vegetable with which I chose carrots. I got about four carrots and peeled them and cut them up vertically and put them in a pot of water with salt. I boiled them and let them cook till they were soft. Once they are cooked I drain them and put butter, salt, and pepper on them and mix it up, and then they’re ready to eat.

Now you’re ready to enjoy a great steak dinner with a baked potato and carrots. Bon Appetit!
