It’s a great weekend to be a Warrior! A much anticipated homecoming weekend is coming up and the school prepares for one of the biggest events on campus. This year, the center of attention will be on the unveiling of the new Warrior Stadium.
Alumni, parents, families and fans will come together on campus during the weekend of October 13th through the 15th to celebrate this annual weekend. Visitors will be able to enjoy live music, sporting events, food, and fireworks throughout the weekend.
Students of all grades anticipate this weekend on campus. A freshman at Merrimack, Yasmine Yilgor shared that she is most excited “to see everyone together for the game and just being a community,” when asked what she is looking forward to during the weekend. Kelly Carbone, another freshman that will be participating in the homecoming festivities said, “I’m looking forward to experiencing my first college football game!”
The homecoming festivities will begin on Friday with a Women’s Ice Hockey game vs. St. Lawrence University and the celebrations will continue on with FanFest, the opening of the stadium followed by a fireworks show.
Saturday’s fun will start off with Merrimack’s Annual 5K Homecoming Run. Students, alumni and families will be some of the first to try out the new track of Warrior Stadium for this 5K run through campus hosted by the Merrimack Track and Field team. Celebrations will continue all throughout the day with the homecoming tailgate, lunch at Sparky’s, food trucks and the End Zone Beer Garden which is a great spot to watch the game and enjoy a beer with friends!
After the pregame celebrations, the games on Saturday include, Merrimack Football vs. Pace University at the Warrior Stadium, Women’s Volleyball vs. St. Michaels at the Hammel Court, Women’s Ice Hockey vs. St. Lawrence, and Men’s Ice Hockey vs. Wisconsin both at the J. Thom Lawler Rink. The day will continue with Family Reception, the Reception for Higher Education Program Alumni, Mass Celebration, Big Prize Bingo in the Sakowich Campus Center and end your weekend with some fun at Augie’s Pub from 8:30pm until 1:00am.
