Today, Saturday, September 30th, Merrimack College defeated the Sacred Heart University Pioneers 17-7 at SHU’s Campus Field in Fairfield, Connecticut. This win might seem small to some, but with this win over Sacred Heart, the Warriors’ 2023 season record becomes 2-3 and Merrimack’s overall record vs Sacred Heart is now 3-3. This game was Merrimack’s sixth time facing Sacred Heart since their first matchup in 1996. The first time Merrimack played Sacred Heart was back in 1996, when Sacred Heart defeated Merrimack 3-20. The second matchup was in 1997 where Merrimack defeated Sacred Heart 17-7. Fast forward to more recent times. In the spring of 2021, Merrimack lost to Sacred Heart 9-26 and in the fall of 2021, Merrimack lost to Sacred Heart 10-20. Last year, in 2022, Merrimack defeated Sacred Heart 31-25 at Duane Stadium. Since Merrimack beat Sacred Heart this weekend, their next matchup will be a must-see game and will have high intensity.
Next Saturday, October 7th at 1:00PM, Merrimack College football will host Stonehill College during their 2023 Homecoming Weekend. Make sure to come out to Duane Stadium at Merrimack College to see the game. If you cannot make it to the game in person, you can watch the game on ESPN+.
