Get involved with Augie's

Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Copy & Features Editor ‘15

What is Augie’s Advisory Committee? This question has been getting blank stares across campus lately, along with the returning questions “Huh? What are you talking about?” Who knew that there was a committee for the campus bar? Apparently not many know that there is more to Augie’s than being the new Claddaugh and Thursday night hangout.

For those of you who don’t know, Augie’s Pub is located on the first-floor of the Sak Center. The Augie’s Advisory Committee is a group of 21+ students who are in charge of organizing and coordinating the 21+ events for Augie’s. Last year Augie’s Advisory Committee brought us Paint Night and the Dueling Pianos. This year, they are looking for students to get involved and to bring new ideas to the table (or bar).

Senior member Frankie Quinci explained “we now have Stump Trivia every Friday night. There will be many more new events offered throughout the year as well.”

Rumor has it they have planned some karaoke nights too. We all know that Karaoke and $2 Corona Lights probably don’t mix well, but definitely well worth the laughs.

Students who want to get involved must be at least 21 years old, hold a minimum GPA of 2.5 and can contact Dan Russo at russod@merrimack.edu in the office of Student Involvement.

For those who just want to be a part in the fun, Augie’s is open Thursday-Saturday nights weekly from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. and scheduled events are listed on the Chalk Board in Augie’s Pub and will have additional fliers posted on across campus.
