Friday Night Lights at Duane Stadium was no bittersweet opening to the year for Merrimack as they took a 31-17 defeat to Holy Cross. The offense for the Warriors was suffering from a number of penalties throughout the game, which led for their most crucial drives to be a major let down for any hopes of turning things around for a possible comeback victory. Holy Cross Quarterback Matthew Sluka threw for 245 yards with 2 touchdowns through the air, while running for 102 yards and one touchdown on the ground. His performance and leadership was just what the Crusaders needed to salsify a big road win to start off the 2022 season. Merrimack looks to put this game behind them as they get ready for another home game on Saturday night against Assumption University.
