Campus Ministry to Collect End-of-year Donations for Local Charities

Often times, students are looking to lighten their load as they move out of their residence halls after they’re finished with final exams. From May 8-12, Campus Ministry’s Sweeps Week will be taking donations of various items including toiletries, school supplies, food items and more.

During Sweeps Week, Campus Ministry provides residence hall lobbies with donation boxes in which students can donate items instead of throwing them out before moving home for the summer. Proving to be an easy and convenient effort for students who are going home, it also serves as an easy way to give back to the community.

Augustinian volunteer Maggie Qualter is leading the event. “It is a good way to help different organizations in the community,” said Qualter. “Anything that can be donated is greatly appreciated.”

For students looking to get involved with Sweeps Week, Qualter is looking for students and staff volunteers to help sort through the donations before sending them out to various charities in the community.

In the past, Campus Ministry has donated items to a handful of charities including the Wish Project, the Lazarus House, Mission of Deeds, Goodwill, Bread and Roses, and Cradles 2 Crayons.
