The first student to enroll at Merrimack, Daniel Brackett Breen died last weekend. Breen was the deputy tax commissioner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 17 years.

Tom Nyman, former Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Merrimack College, accepted a position at the University of Virginia-Wise. Nyman will be Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. Nyman, was the second compliance director in three years in the Athletic Department, but MC Athletic officials call Nyman’s departure a “pure coincidence,” and that he left for a “better” job. The Athletic Department recently went through a US Department of education Title IX investigation, and an institutional self study.

Praise was sung of Merrimack College in an Eagle Tribune Letter to the Editor by an alum, and a parent of a recent graduate.

Former Woburn Hockey star Alex Holland commits to play for the Warriors, while former Lynn English standout Ryan Wouman will complete his last three years of eligibility playing under Bert Hammel, and Pat Florence of Lowell has signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Warriors.
